  • MLB Career

    After a collegiate baseball career at The Ohio State University, where Swisher was an All-Big 10 selection, the Oakland Athletics selected Swisher as the 16th overall selection in the first round of the 2002 amateur draft. After two years in the minors, Swisher made his MLB debut on September 3, 2004. The next season Swisher spent a full year in the majors, and finished 6th in Rookie of the Year voting. After four seasons in Oakland, the Athletics traded Swisher to the White Sox for Ryan Sweeney, Gio Gonzalez, and Fautino De Los Santos.
