Saban was named the Associated Press college football coach of the year in December of 2008, having led the Crimson Tide to a 12-1 season that culminated in a trip to the Sugar Bowl.   • Brief Biography

    Making his coaching debut with Kent State University, Nick Saban went on to be the defensive assistant for a number of NCAA colleges around the nation. He was able to attain his first head coaching job with Michigan State University in 1983, a position he held for the next four years before moving to Louisiana State University. Nick Saban made his NFL debut with the Miami Dolphins in 2005, but after two losing seasons left for the University of Alabama.

    After coaching the Tigers to a national championship in 2003, Saban, now-head coach of the top-ranked Crimson Tide, returned to LSU as the teams played on November 8, 2008.
