Nick Jr. is an American cable television channel, designed for preschool aged children. Owned by Viacom, Nick Jr. first aired in 1994, as a joint project between Viacom’s Nickelodeon television channel and the Children's Television Workshop (CTW), an American non-profit organization responsible for a number of educational children’s programs. The programming block originally aired on Nickelodeon between the later morning and early afternoon hours.http://www.johnnorrisbrown.com/classic-nick/history.htm
The channel was targeted at a pre-teen demographic, airing as “Noggin” on February 2, 1999. Noggin’s programming received low ratings, and the channel was relaunched in 2002, this time as a channel for young children. Viewers were greeted by Noggin’s mascot Feetface, and later Moose and Zee, as they hosted short segments and introduced programs.http://www.nick.com/all_nick/everything_nick/history_home.jhtml Noggin originally ran 24 hours each day, but after the launch of The N, Noggin’s block of teen programs, the channel began airing only 12 hours per day.
