Nick Johnson is a first baseman for the Washington Nationals. The New York Yankees originally selected Johnson in the 3rd round of the 1996 amateur draft. After five years as a minor league prospect, Johnson made his major league debut on August 21, 2001. Johnson played three years in New York, before being sent to the Montreal Expos along with Randy Choate and Juan Rivera, in exchange for Javier Vazquez. 2006 was Johnson's best season to date, but near the end of the season he suffered a broken femur after colliding with teamate Austin Kearns, in pursuit of a fly ball. As a result of the injury, Johnson missed the entire 2007 season, but healed in time to play in 2008.
