    In 1997, Cosmo was working as a stockbroker for Continental Broker-Dealer Corporation. He was accused of misappropriating funds, when he inserted the name "Cosmo and Associates" in the place of a public customer's name. He pleaded guilty in 1999 to a federal charge of fraud and received a 21 month sentence and a $177,000 fine.     Cosmo told Bloomberg that he started Agape World in 1999 as a private bridge lender. In May 2008, Cosmo and Agape World were listed in Entrepreneur magazine as one of the fastest growing businesses.
