In September of 2008, the last full month before the regular season began, NHL teams scrambled to make the final touches to their rosters. Perhaps the most notable move was the trade of Mathieu Schneider from the Anaheim Ducks to the Atlanta Thrashers. This gave the Ducks the salary cap space they were looking for to allow for the signing of veteran winger Teemu Selanne.
