  • The 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs began April 15, 2009, and this page serves as the bracket for the Eastern Conference Playoffs. When the first round was completed, the teams were re-seeded, with the highest remaining seeded team facing the lowest remaining seeded team in the conference semifinals.

    The Pittsburgh Penguins swept the Carolina Hurricanes in the Western Conference Finals and will play the Western Conference champions, the Detroit Red Wings, for the Stanley Cup championship.
