NHL 2K9 is a National Hockey League simulation video game being developed by Visual Concepts for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and Wii. All platforms are scheduled for release on September 8, 2008.
Gameplay
Players can take control of their favorite hockey teams and players to attempt to win the Stanley Cup or face-off against other players in the multi-player mode. The control scheme has been redone since the previous game. Simpler controls have take the place of the complex controls of NHL 2K8.GameSpot: E3 2008: NHL 2K9 First Look (July 15, 2008) Though, players that wish to use the complex controls can enable them in the options menu. One rather unique feature to NHL 2K9 is the Zamboni driving mini-game during intermissions.
Nintendo Wii Debut
NHL 2K9 is the first ice hockey game to be developed for the Wii. The graphics in the Wii version of the game are not as high quality as the graphics in the other versions. The Wii's innovative control mechanisms may be considered to make up the difference, e.g., players can use the Wiimote as a hockey stick when taking a shot.
