The National Football League Regular Season schedule consists of 17 weeks where anywhere from 26 to all 32 teams will play their games. Over the course of the season each team plays a total of 16 games, and has one designated week off called a "bye week". Week 5 is the second week of the season where selected teams will have a bye weekhttp://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/.
Throughout NFL history nine teams have started the year 1-4 and made the playoffs. As it stands, no team has ever started the year 0-5 and earned a playoff berthhttp://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/. Some of the more notable 1-4 teams include...
The 1996 Jacksonville Jaguars. Just one year after being a lowly 4-12 expansion team, the Jags led by Quarterback Mark Brunell would finish the year 9-7 and make it all the way to the AFC Championshiphttp://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/jax/1996.htm.
The 1970 Cincinnati Bengals. Back when teams only played a total of 14 games, the Bengals would start the year with a win, but would then follow that up with 5 consecutive losses putting their record at a abysmal 1-5. They would finish the year winning 7 of the next 8 and squeak into the playoffs with a 8-6 recordhttp://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/cin/1970.htm.
