The Games

There were no more bye weeks for the teams, so from here on out, everybody played. The Thursday night game featured an AFC East clash between the New York Jets and the New England Patriots. CBS had the doubleheader action, and the scheduled late afternoon national game had the Pittsburgh Steelers entertaining the San Diego Chargers. This week was the first week when Sunday Night Football could utilize the 'flex-scheduling' system to switch their scheduled game for a 'more competitive game'. The scheduled game on NBC had the Dallas Cowboys visiting the Washington Redskins, which they were likely to keep, given the competitve NFC East and the media-savvy Dallas Cowboys. The Monday Night Football match-up on ESPN had the Cleveland Browns taking on the Buffalo Bills.
