The first round of the National Football League draft is perhaps the most talked-about and prominent round of the NFL Draft, featuring the first-overall selections from each team. Each of the 32 National Football League teams are permitted to make one selection, as determined by their performance in the previous season and NFL Playoffs. As these are the first picks in the draft, selections are often traded, allowing teams with specific needs to acquire the top player to meet their needs.
The 2010 NFL Draft began with the first round on April 22, 2010. The St. Louis Rams, who finished the 2009 regular season with the worst-place record, selected first, picking San Bradford, the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from the Oklahoma Sooners.
