    On February 18, 2009, the student group Take Back NYU barricaded themselves in the Kimmel Student Center in protest. Other students protested outside. The group has several demands including disclosure of the school's budget.     The student group Take Back NYU began protesting on February 18, 2009. About 70 students barricaded themselves in the Kimmel Center. The protesters called it an "occupation." The students listed their demands on the website takebacknyu.com.The group demands an annual report of the school's budget and they demand that 13 scholarships be given to students from the Gaza Strip annually.
