New York Magazine is a weekly lifestyle publication that covers New York City. The magazine covers primarily with culture, events, style and local politics.
History
Edited by Clay Felker, New York started in 1963 as part of the New York Herald Tribune. After the Herald went bankrupt, New York was resurrected as a standalone publication by Milton Glaser. In a hostile takeover, Rupert Murdoch purchased the magazine in 1976. Murdoch held New York until 1980, when it was bought by K-III Communications.
Lindsay Lohan Photo Shoot
In 2008, the February 25th issue of New York included a series of photographs that featured a nude Lindsay Lohan. The photo shoot was an homage to Marilyn Monroe's famous New York magazine spread in 1962. In 2003, Bruce Wasserstein purchased New York and hired Adam Moss as the editor.
