From 1956-76, Guy Lombardo hosted the traditional New Year's celebration on CBS and NBC called Happy New Year, America. He was responsible for a formal show which became known for yearly orchestra performances of "Auld Lang Syne." It is said that Lombardo paved the way for Dick Clark.Dick Clark Quote
