New Mexico Bowl

In the 2010 college football season, the New Mexico Bowl featured the Brigham Young University Cougars from the Mountain West defeating the University of Texas-El Paso Miners from the Conference-USA, who fill in for an ineligible team from the WAC, by a score of 52-24.http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=303522638 The game took place at 2:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, December 18, 2010, and aired on ESPN. New Mexico Bowl History

In 2005, the New Mexico Sports Authority was created by Governor Bill Richardson in an effort to bring a Division-I College Football Bowl Game to the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The committee worked with the Western Athletic Conference and the Mountain West Conference, as well as the city of Albuquerque, ESPN and the University of New Mexico to create the first college bowl game played in the state of New Mexico.http://www.newmexicobowl.com/index.php/about-us/bowl-history

The first New Mexico Bowl was played on December 23, 2006. The San Jose State Spartans defeated the New Mexico Lobos 20-12. The Lobos returned to the New Mexico Bowl in 2007, shutting out the Nevada Wolf Pack 23-0.http://www.newmexicobowl.com/index.php/about-us/bowl-history
