New Mexico Bowl History
In 2005, the New Mexico Sports Authority was created by Governor Bill Richardson in an effort to bring a Division-I College Football Bowl Game to the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The committee worked with the Western Athletic Conference and the Mountain West Conference, as well as the city of Albuquerque, ESPN and the University of New Mexico to create the first college bowl game played in the state of New Mexico.http://www.newmexicobowl.com/index.php/about-us/bowl-history
