The New Mexico Bowl is one of 34 annual post-season college football bowl games. Held at University Stadium in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the game hosts teams from the Mountain West and Western Athletic conferences. In 2009, the game will open the bowl season, taking place on December 19.

History
The first New Mexico Bowl was played on December 23, 2006. The San Jose State Spartans defeated the New Mexico Lobos with a score of 20 to 12. The Lobos returned to the New Mexico Bowl in 2007, shutting out the Nevada Wolf Pack 23 to zero.ESPN.com: New Mexico Bowl History-
