On August 4, 2008, a Taiwanese web site, Apple.pro, leaked what they purport to be the casing for a brand new MacBook. Some sites have reported it to be a new MacBook Air, while others feel it is a new aluminum encasing for low end MacBooks, putting it more in line visually with the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. Piper Jaffey analyst Gene Munster stated on August 6, 2008, that Apple is likely to hold an event this September to announce new MacBook models, as well as a set of brand new iPods.

Ultra Portable MacBook?
Addressing the persistent rumor of a MacBook Touch, Gene Muster believes that it will be quite some time until such a device appears. As stated in an article by Tech Trader Daily, "He thinks Apple is testing a "MacBook Touch," but that it is more likely a 2010 event. He also believes a smaller version of the MacBook Air is likely in 2009." In July of 2008, MacDailyNews began the rumor that a MacBook Touch would appear sometime around October 2008; no news supporting this claim has been released at this time. -
