New Line Warner Merge

  • On February 28, 2008 it was announced that the Time Warner owned studio, New Line Cinema would close its doors as an independent studio and be merged with Warner Brothers studio.
  • Fast Facts:

    1. New Line operated as an independent studio for 40 years previous to this merger
    2. New Line will become a unit of Warner Brothers with separate development, production, marketing, distribution and business affairs teams
    3. Warner intends to have New Line focus on making films in genres where it has been successful in the past
    4. New Line heads Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne will be leaving
