The New Jersey Nets play in the Atlantic Division of the NBA’s Eastern Conference. The Nets currently play their home games at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, but are scheduled to transfer to the Prudential Center located in Newark, New York for the forthcoming NBA 2010-11 season and will move to Brooklyn also in New York City once the team’s stadium is already built.
The New Jersey franchise was founded in 1967 as a member of the American Basketball Association (ABA). When the ABA and NBA merged in 1976, The Nets were one of four ABA teams to join the NBA. The Knicks forced the Nets to pay them $4.8 million for holding their games in NBA territory. In their first few years in New York, the team was in a losing skid as they are riding in a string of four straight losing seasons.
New Jersey Nets 2009-2010 Season
In the recent NBA 2009-2010 Season the New Jersey Nets unfortunately have the worst record in the league as it wound up with a poor 12-70 win-loss and ranked last in both the Eastern Conference (15th) and in the overall standings (30th). The team’s lackadaisical performance the last time around can be attributed with not having high profile players on their fold. The team leaned on its young and talented players in Brook Lopez, Devin Harris, Courtney Lee and Yi Jianlian, and doesn’t have any firepower in both the offensive and defensive ends. But the team now has a chance to improve its roster since the team holds three high picks in the forthcoming 2010 NBA Draft. The Nets is pinning its hopes on its 3rd, 27th and 31st picks to augment its line up and rebuild the team.http://www.nbadraft.net/2010mock_draft
