New England Patriots Cheerleaders

Each National Football League season, a group of 24 women are selected to part of the cheerleading squad for the New England Patriots. The squad has been in existence since 1977.
Caitlin Davis Scandal

In November of 2008, 19-year-old Caitlin Davis was dismissed from the cheerleading squad after obnoxious photos were posted to her Facebook profile. The cheerleaders do more than just lead Patriot fans in cheering on their favorite team. During the game, they are positioned on the sidelines helping lead the cheers. Yet when the action stops, the cheerleaders move onto the middle of the field at Gillette Stadium and keep the fans entertained with numerous mini-dance routines. The cheerleaders practice during the week on Tuesday evenings and all-day Saturday, to make sure they are completely in sync. They also make numerous public appearances at charity events and other promotional activities. Each March, there are try-outs held to select the new 24 women that will make up the squad. Throughout the year, in addition to multiple paid appearances, there is also a biweekly podcast available on the team's website. In 2008, one of the cheerleaders, Meghan White, appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
