Neuroscience is the scientific study of the nervous system. Studies branch into many fields such as biology, chemistry, and psychology.
Glossary
- Neurons: Nerve cells capable of sending or processing information via electrochemical signals
- Glia: Non-neuronal cells in the nervous system that aid in neuromodulation, physical support, nutrition, neuron signal transduction and remove debris
- Neural Network: A network of neurons that transmit electric signals and enable complex neural processes
- Ganglion: Tissues that contain mainly somas and dendrites of neurons, usually referring to the peripheral nervous system
- Grey Matter: A mixture of cells and tissues in the brain that contains neuronal cell bodies
- Nervous System: The network of neurons, glia and other cells that communicate via electrochemical signals and process and relay information from the environment for an organism
