Nestle History

It started in 1860, when pharmacist Henri Nestle created a formula for milk-based infant food. Over the years, Nestle has been an important purveyor of milk products. The company gradually expanded into chocolate, coffee and other foodstuffs. Based in Switzerland, it sells products world wide. Since the 1970s, Nestle has faced controversy over its marketing of infant formula in developing countries and has been boycott by various action groups.
