    • Birthplace: London, England

  • Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter and actress Nellie McKay's 2004 debut album Get Away From Me established her as a major talent whose eccentric and ambitious rock, pop and jazz-oriented sound seemed far advanced for her years. Her follow-up Pretty Little Head came out on Hungry Mouse Records in 2006 after a contemptuous split from Columbia Records, who refused to release a second double album.
  • Broadway Nellie

McKay's music was always big, dramatic and full of humor, brashness and passion, so it only made sense for her to make the move to Broadway in 2006. She played Polly Peachum alongside Alan Cumming and Cyndi Lauper in The Threepenny Opera and received a Theatre World Award for Outstanding Debut Performance for her efforts.
