Need for Speed: Shift was announced on January 30, 2009 by game publisher Electronic Arts in conjunction with two additional franchise racing games: Need for Speed: Nitro and Need for Speed: World Online.Need for Speed Blog: Need for Speed Races into New Territory (January 30, 2009) With its focus on simulation racing for hardcore gamers rather than the arcade style of previous installations in the series, Need for Speed: Shift pays less attention to street racing and more to simulating the actual driver experience.
