Need for Speed: Nitro features 30 licensed cars, including exotic rides and even muscle cars. In the game, each car is capable to absorb damage which will affect some of its features. Players are able to pick up boosts that will repair their cars or will increase the heat level of their opponents.

In Need for Speed: Nitro the cops will try to stop any racers who reaches a certain heat amount, therefore players should expect road blocks during each race. The game provides a Multiplayer Mode for up to 4 players, while in the race, the maximum number of competitors is 8.
