Ned Yost

  • Ned Yost served as the general manager of the Milwaukee Brewers in Major League Baseball until September 15, 2008, when Yost was fired. Yost played six seasons in the majors and served as a coach in the Atlanta Braves organization for 11 years before replacing Jerry Royster as Brewers manager in 2002.
  • Playing Career

    The New York Mets selected Yost in the first round of the 1974 amateur draft. After making his MLB debut in 1980, Yost went on to play 6 seasons with the Brewers, Rangers and Montreal Expos. For his career, Yost hit .212 Batting Average, with 16 Home Run and 64 Runs Batted In.

  • Fired by the Brewers

    On September 15, 2008, Yost was fired by the Milwaukee Brewers. He was replaced on an interim basis by third base coach Dale Sveum. At the time of the firing, the Brewers were tied with the Philadelphia Phillies for the National League wild card spot with 12 games left in the season.
