NEC Tournament

In 2010, for the sixth straight year, the NEC Men’s Basketball Tournament will have an eight-team playoff format with all games played at the home of the higher seed. RMU lost that game but the experience of playing into the field of 64 was one of a lifetime. Teams such as Central Connecticut State, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Monmouth have all won the conference tournament in the past.

NEC Tournament quarterfinal play began on Thursday, March 4, with victories by #1 ranked Quinnipiac, Robert Morris, Mount St. Mary's and Long Island.Both Robert Morris and Quinnipiac made into the finals, with the #1 seed winning a close game with Long Island while Robert Morris easily defeated Mount St. Mary's behind 58% shooting from the field. For the second consecutive year, Robert Morris forward Dallas Green went to the line with a trip to the NCAA tournament at stake, and, again, he delivered, sinking two free throws as the Colonials defeated #1 ranked Quinnipiac 52-50 in the NEC Championship game.
