  • The University of Nebraska football program is one of the most storied in all of college football.The Cornhuskers play in the North Division of the Big 12 Conference. Bo Pelini, who was defensive coordinator for the 2007 national champion LSU Tigers, was named the new head coach for the 2008 season.

    After finishing the 2008 season with an 8-4 record, the Cornhuskers have accepted a bid to face the Clemson Tigers in the Gator Bowl on January 1, 2009, in Jacksonville, Florida.Jacksonville.com: Nebraska to play Clemson in Gator Bowl

  • Championship History

    The school has won five national championships. Three of those came under Tom Osborne, in 1994, 1995 and 1997. The other two came under Bob Devaney, in 1970 and 1971. The school has also produced three Heisman Trophy winners, Johnny Rodgers in 1972, Mike Rozier in 1983 and Eric Crouch in 2001.

    Nebraska has produced some of the great players in college football history, many of whom have gone on to play in the National Football League. Those greats include Roger Craig, Neil Smith, Irving Fryar, Will Shields, Dave Rimington, Grant Wistrom, Aaron Taylor, Junior Miller and Turner Gill.
