NCAA Brackets

The 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament brackets were announced on Selection Sunday, March 14, 2010. The brackets for the 2010 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament were announced the following day, Selection Monday, March 15, 2010. Many of the teams participating knew ahead of time they will be in the tournament by earning one of 31 automatic bids by winning their conference tournament. The remainder of the at-large teams, as well as how teams are seeded, was announced just days before the Big Dance begins.

The Duke Blue Devils won the 2010 championship, topping the Butler Bulldogs in the title game, 61-59.

The men's tournament featured 65 teams, divided into four regional brackets, East, West, Midwest and South. 64 of those teams competed in the single-elimination tournament, with the 65th team being eliminated in the NCAA play-in game on March 16, 2010.

The women's tournament includes 64 top teams, divided into regional brackets, Dayton, Kansas City, Memphis and Sacramento.

In each tournament, teams competed within their regional brackets with the winners of each regional bracket continuing on to play in the Final Four to determine a champion. The 2010 Final Four on the men's side took place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, on April 3 and April 5, 2010. The Women's Final Four was held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, from April 4 to April 6, 2010.

Teams not selected to participate in the March Madness main tournaments may be named to play in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) or Women's NIT, which also uses a bracket system to determine a winner.
