An Amber Alert was issued for three year old Siraj Munir "Roji" Davenport on Sunday May 18, 2008 after he disappeared from Brightleaf Flea Market in North Carolina. The boy's mother claimed that while she was loading the car, she turned back around and he was gone. Federal Investigators spent all Monday searching for the boy in air, by foot and in the water. At 12:27 am Tuesday the Amber Alert was canceled after he was found safe. It turns out, Davenport was never even at the flea market.
Hoax
The Amber Alert turned out to be a hoax when Davenport was found safe with relatives. He was not at the flea market that day and he never went missing. He was out of the country at the time with family members. It is still not clear as to what exactly happened. Police are currently still investigating the case and it is unknown if the Davenport's mother will face any charges.
