  • The NBA Three-point Shootout is an annual competition held during the NBA All-Star Weekend. Current NBA players have one minute to make as many three-point baskets as they can.

    The 2009 NBA Three-point Shootout took place February 14, 2009, at the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The event featured Mike Bibby, Daequan Cook, Danny Granger, Rashard Lewis, Roger Mason and the two-time defending champion Jason Kapono.

    Daequan Cook and Rashard Lewis initially tied with 15 balls each. Cook won the event after scoring 19 balls in a tie-breaker one-minute shootout.

  • How It Works

    Contestants may shoot up to 25 total balls, from five separate racks set up along the three point line. One of the five balls on each rack is worth two points if the player makes the shot, called the money ball, each normal ball is worth one point. A perfect score is 30, however no one has ever earned all 30 points since the competition started in 1986. 2007 and 2008 winner Jason Kapono is tied with the 1986 winner Craig Hodges for most points scored in a single round, at 25.
