NBA All-Star Saturday features special events and competitions leading up to Sunday's All-Star Game.
NBA All-Star Saturday will be held on February 14, 2009, from the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The All-Star Game will follow in February 15, 2009.

- Shooting Stars Competition - Winner: Detroit
- Skills Challenge - Winner: Derrick Rose
- Three-point Shootout - Winner: Daequan Cook
- Slam Dunk Contest - Winner: Nate Robinson
Shooting Stars Competition Fast Facts
- First held in 2004
- Held on the Saturday before the NBA All-Star Game
- Played at the same venue as the All-Star Game
- Teams include a current NBA and WNBA player, as well as a retired NBA player
- Participants compete in teams representing their cities
- San Antonio has won the competition twice
- Teams must complete six shots from various locations, including a half-court shot, in sequential order, competing for the fastest time
- Four teams complete in the first round, with the top two teams going on to a final round
