• Navy Pier

Built in 1916 for $4.5 million, this 3,300-foot (1,010 m) long pier is Chicago's number one tourist attraction. City planner Daniel Burnham included it in the Plan for Chicago as primarily a cargo facility for freighters on Lake Michigan.

Renovated in the early nineties, it now includes attractions such as a 150-foot (46 m)-tall Ferris Wheel, an IMAX theater, the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, the Chicago Children's Museum, shopping, and several cruise ships.
