Originally known as "The New Style", Naughty by Nature is a hip-hop trio which includes Treach, Vin Rock and DJ Kay Gee.

The group formed in 1989 while attending the same High School. The group was discovered by Queen Latifah while performing in a talent show and later she assisted in getting them a record deal with Tommy Boy Records. In 1991 the band released their self titled second album Naughty by Nature which received Platinum success. The group had previously released their debut album, The Independent Leaders as The New Style before signing with Tommy Boy Records. The trio repeated their platinum success with their third album, 19 Naughty III in 1993. They followed up with two Gold albums, Poverty's Paradise (1995) and Nineteen Naughty Nine: Nature's Fury (1999). In 2000, DJ Kay Gee left the group to concentrate on creating his own production company. The group, now a duo, released their sixth album titled Iicons in 2002 which was not as successful as their previous albums. DJ Kay Gee reunited with the band in 2006 and has been touring with the band as well. The trio announced on their website that they will be working on a new album when they return from their current tour.
