The term nature can refer to plants, animals, the weather, trees, flowers and even an individuals personality. There is even a carnal allusion to the the meaning of nature. Also known as Mother Nature, the phenomenon of nature encompasses almost everything on Earth, including the Earth. Nature is the powerful force that is responsible for the earthquakes, volcanoes, thunderstorms, the sprouting of vegetables from the ground and the creation of the delicate butterfly. One of the most beautiful and frightening products of nature is lightening and everyday, more than ten million lightening bolts shower the Earth. Lightening by Seymour Simon. ISBN: 0-590-12122-7 To most people, wilderness is the true definition of nature, because it is untouched by humans. The evolution of nature, coupled with the unforgiving intrusion of man has led to the extinction of thousands of plants and animals as well as the introduction of new species. Elements of Nature
There are five distinct elements of nature that make up the universe and each of these elements is inside every one of us. The science of life, known as ayurveda, provide the basis for life and the entire universe. These elements are a part of our everyday lives, in every way. The air we breath, the water we drink or shower with, and the space in which we live are all a part of the elements that are included in every part of life.
Earth - The Earth is the place we all call home. This is the ground we walk on and from another perspective, the giant blue ball in the sky. The Earth is made up of four layers of crust, cores and the mantle.http://www.nasa.gov/worldbook/earth_worldbook.html
Air- The wind we feel on our skin, the air we take into our lungs are given to us, courtesy of Mother Nature. Air is a combination of gasses and it is also referred to as the atmosphere. Without air, no breathing plant, animal or person could survive for more than a few minutes. The atmosphere is our protector from the harmful, cancer causing rays emitted from the sun.http://www.nasa.gov/worldbook/wbkids/k_air.html
Water - Our bodies are made up of almost 70 percent water and the Earth is cover in about 70 percent water, from the |oceans, lakes, rivers, wetlands and glaciers.http://www.earthday.net/journey/journey%20pdf's/water.pdf
Fire - We get fire from friction, volcanoes and lightening. Our bodies can keep up warm from the inside out from the natural thermostat we have inside. Fire also exist in every metabolized chemical action and reaction.http://www.eattasteheal.com/Ayurveda101/ETH_5elements.htm
Space - There is the space we live in, the we call our personal space and the outer space. Space is non invasive but it is essential for life and the communication of all of the other elements of the universe.http://www.eattasteheal.com/Ayurveda101/ETH_5elements.htm
