Nature Aquariums are elaborate fishtanks that have been designed to look like scenes from nature. Using a variety of aquatic plants, river rocks, driftwood and other items, Aquarium designers are able to turn their fishtanks into something closely resembling a work of art. While the hobby of Aquascaping has been around for a while, it was the Japanese Aquarist Takashi Amano who first introduced the concept of nature design into the aquascaping community. Using a number of Japanese gardening techniques (such as Zen rock arranging), Amano's work has been credited with helping to spark a renewed interest in aquatic gardening.
