Categories: News
  • The National Health Service (NHS) is the publicly funded health care system of the United Kingdom. The service provides primary care, in-patient care, long-term care, ophthamology and dentistry to U.K. residents.
  • History

The National Health Service was a part of a series of social reforms in the aftermath of World War II. The Labour Party posited that large expenditures that provided so much employment during the war effort could be directed toward domestic services. In 1946 the National Health Service was established through the signing of the National Health Service Act 1946.
