Origin of National Grammar Day

Martha Brockenbrough began the The Society for the Promotion of Good Grammar to teach her students good grammar. She decided to create National Grammar Day to draw attention to the necessity of good grammar in providing clear communication. Brockenbrough also didn't think it was fair to celebrate National Punctuation Day without having a day to celebrate the phrases and clauses that punctuation "embrace."
