For more than 125 years, the Kennel Club of Philadelphia has held an annual dog show to highlight the best and most well-trained dogs in the world. The National Dog Show is held every Thanksgiving Day, and for the past several years has been televised in the United States on NBC.
This show is for the dogs
Although this event has been held for more than a century, it has only recently gained national acclaim and popularity on the same scale as the Westminster Dog Show. There are more than 150 registered breeds and varieties of dogs that compete in one of seven groups. These groups are: Terrier Group, Toy Group, Working Group, Sporting Group, Hound Group, Non-Sporting Group, and Herding Group. In addition to competing in these groups, the dogs entered into the field also compete for best of breed, and the ultimate prize of the National Dog Show Best in Show award.
