Retired NBA player Nate Thurmond played 14 seasons of professional basketball between the San Francisco/Golden State Warriors, the Chicago Bulls and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Following his retirement in 1977, both the Cavaliers and the Warriors retired his #42 jersey. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1985. He currently owns and operates the Big Nate's BBQ restaurant in San Francisco.
Career Highlights
His first 11 seasons were spent with the San Francisco Warriors, who drafted him third overall in 1965. Thurmond was selected for his first of seven NBA All-Star Game appearances in 1965. He moved with the team to Oakland in 1971 becoming the Golden State Warriors. A 1974 trade sent him to the Chicago Bulls. Just over a year later he was traded to the Cavaliers where he played for just over one year before retiring.
