  • Retired NBA player Nate Thurmond played 14 seasons of professional basketball between the San Francisco/Golden State Warriors, the Chicago Bulls and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Following his retirement in 1977, both the Cavaliers and the Warriors retired his #42 jersey. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1985. He currently owns and operates the Big Nate's BBQ restaurant in San Francisco.
  • Career Highlights

    His first 11 seasons were spent with the San Francisco Warriors, who drafted him third overall in 1965. Thurmond was selected for his first of seven NBA All-Star Game appearances in 1965. He moved with the team to Oakland in 1971 becoming the Golden State Warriors. A 1974 trade sent him to the Chicago Bulls. Just over a year later he was traded to the Cavaliers where he played for just over one year before retiring.
