Natalie Cole is the daughter of legendary Jazz icon, Nat King Cole. Since her debut album in 1975, she has produced hits in the R&B, Pop and Smooth Jazz categories that have brought her eight Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist in 1976.
Cole's sister, Carole, reportedly died while Cole was undergoing a kidney transplant at Cedars-Sinai on May 19, 2009. Carole had recently been diagnosed with lung cancer. Cole underwent kidney transplant surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, on May 19, 2009. Doctors say Cole is doing well and resting comfortably after the surgery.
