Nat King Cole was a popular singer, actor and Jazz pianist whose silky smooth voice and impeccable musicianship helped make him icon. In 1945, he released his first mainstream hit "Straighten Up and Fly". He recorded it on Capitol Records and sold over 500,000 copies. In 1956, The Nat King Cole Show appeared on television. The show lasted a year and was canceled on December 17, 1957.
