Nashua, New Hampshire
Nashua, New Hampshire is the second most populated city in the state of New Hampshire. Nashua, bordering Massachusetts, is located at the confluence of the Nashua River and Merrimack River. Nashua has twice been voted "Best Place to Live in America" by Money Magazine, first in 1987 then again in 1997. First named "Nashua" on December 31, 1836, the New Hampshire legislature chose this name because of the cities proximity to the mouth of the Nashua River which as named by the Nashuway Indians means "pebble bottom" or "pebbely bottom" in the Penecook language. Nashua historically has been a city with its industry based in textiles, shoes, and foundries but in more recent years (20th Century) has become a technological hub of the Northeastern United States with corporations like BAE Systems, Oracle, and Nashua Corporation heading the way in the technology sector. Nestled snugly on Nashua's northern border with Merrimack, New Hampshire is the New England beverage (beer) manufacturing headquarters for Anheuser-Busch and a seasonal home to the famous Clydesdale horses that represent the St. Louis based beverage manufacturing company.
