Brief Background
Naseeruddin Shah attended St. Joseph's College in Nainital and then went on to study at Aligarh Muslim University. He completed his studies after that at the Film and Television Institute of India.
His first film performance as an actor was in Shyam Benegal's Nishant and in 1979 won a National Film Award for his role in Sparsh. Shah was part of the parallel cinema movement of the 1970s and 80s in India.
He also has appeared in mainstream Bollywood films such as Karma and Mohra and international films such as The League of Extraordinary Gentleman.
