Nasir Jones, better known as "Nas," is a rapper and an actor from Queensbridge, New York.

Nas began his career in 1991 as Kid Wave. He later changed to his more commonly used nickname, Nasty Nas. In 1992, MC Serch of the group 3rd Bass began managing Nas and secured him a recording contract with Columbia Records. Nas' debut album, Illmatic, was released in 1994. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.

Nas has appeared in several films. His largest role came in the 1998 film Belly he co-wrote with director Hype Williams.

Nas met R&B singer Kelis at an after-party, thrown by Sean 'Diddy' Combs, for the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards. Nas later proposed to Kelis on Christmas Eve of the same year. The two were married on January 8, 2005, in a small ceremony held in Atlanta, Georgia.
