Nancy Reagan had never held seances in the White House, as may have transpired from Barack Obama's joke about Mrs.Reagan during his first press conference as the president-elect. Obama telephoned to the former first lady and apologized for his remark. Fox News and CNN commented that Ronald Reagan's widow indeed consulted an astrologer to "determine her husband's schedule" after the assassination attempt on the late president.FOX News: Obama Apologizes to Nancy Reagan... Spiritual Guidance in The White House
According to sources, several first ladies notoriously resorted to spiritual guidance, including Hillary Clinton and Mary Todd Lincoln, the wife of Abraham Lincoln. Clinton supposedly held a seance where she communicated with Eleanor Roosevelt, while Lincoln's wife tried to contact her two dead sons, and the president himself, after his passing. Obama mentioned in the press conference that he "re-read" some of President Lincoln's writings and met with living former presidents, including Jimmy Carter and George H. W.
