Appeal
Three years after Kissell was sentenced, she returned to court on April 14, 2008, to appeal her conviction. Kissel was sentenced after she laced her husband, Robert Kissel's milkshake with sedatives, then bludgeoned him to death with a lead ornament. Kissel's appeal was based on the grounds that she was provoked by her her husband, and she killed him in self defense.
