  • The N-Gage is a handheld gaming system produced by Nokia. In addition to the first-generation handheld console, N-Gage is also a gaming platform built into many Nokia phones, most notably the Nokia N95.
  • N-Gaging History

Nokia created the N-Gage in an attempt to combine a cell phone with a portable gaming system. The system also included MP3 playback.

When the N-Gage launched in 2003, it was not as successful as Nokia had hoped. It was outsold by Nintendo's Game Boy Advance by a large margin. The poor sales were due to the high price of the unit and the limited selection of games.

In addition to being a gaming platform, the N-Gage was also a Series 60 Smartphone. Even though Nokia shipped more than 2 million systems by 2007, the N-Gage was still considered a sub-par gaming system, especially when compared with the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS. The release of these new handhelds caused Nokia to steer main focus away from gaming and focus more on phone capabilities.
