Mya

Mya is an r&b; singer/songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1990s. Mya's videos are noted for featuring Mya dancing - a talent she has been developing since her pre-teens. After studying in the Washington DC area, Mya moved to New York City to study under Savion Glover at the Dance Theater of Harlem. Mya's father, a musician and performer himself, shopped a demo tape she recorded around. The demo impressed Haqq Islam of Universal Music Group and he signed her to his Interscope Records label. Her latest album Liberation was set to be released October 2007, but was leaked on the internet which forced the release back to January 2008.

On August 17, 2009 it was announced that Mya would join the ninth season of Dancing With The Stars.TVGuide:[1] (August 17, 2009)
